TRAY® Inventory Solution - Feature Overview 8.02

TRAY Inventory Solution: Feature Overview

This document outlines the current capabilities of the TRAY Inventory Solution, as well as upcoming features designed to streamline your back-of-house operations, improve reporting accuracy, and simplify vendor management.

Available Now (TRAY 8.02)

The 8.02 release introduced foundational enhancements to TRAY’s inventory management and reporting functionalities, specifically focusing on data accuracy, workflow management, and reporting stability.

Reporting, Purchasing & Count Management Enhancements

  • TRAY has introduced and expanded its inventory reporting capabilities.
  • The available reports now include Stock on Hand, Inventory Movement, Purchase Orders, COGS, and Inventory Variance.
  • Inventory Purchasing, Count, and Waste workflows are now available alongside reporting in HQ .

Improved Depletion Logic & Sync Accuracy

Depletion logic and reporting have been hardened, especially for offline scenarios and comp/return-to-inventory behaviors.

This ensures that stock levels and movement history remain accurate after synchronization.

Security & Access Control

Permissions and tab access were corrected to prevent unintended access to unrelated configuration areas.

Coming Soon (TRAY 8.04)

Our upcoming 8.04 release will further expand the TRAY Inventory Solution by introducing advanced configuration settings, robust unit conversions, and localization support.

Dedicated Inventory “Settings” Tab

We are introducing a dedicated Settings tab within the Inventory module to give administrators more granular control over inventory configurations.
  • Unit of Measure (UoM) Management: You will be able to add, edit, and delete custom units of measure. The system will also warn you if you attempt to delete a UoM that is currently assigned to an active item.
  •  Waste Reason Management: Administrators can create, edit, and track specific waste reasons (e.g., Spillage, Spoiled/Expired, Preparation Error) to gain better visibility into inventory loss.
  • Default Seeding: Upon release, the database will be pre-populated with industry-standard UoMs (EACH, OZ, LB, GAL, etc.) and common Waste Reasons to get you started immediately.

Advanced Unit of Measure (UoM) Conversions

To ensure your purchase orders match your vendor invoices while keeping your recipes and depletion accurate, 8.04 introduces unit conversions.
  • Purchase Unit vs. Inventory Unit: You can now define how an item is purchased from a supplier versus how it is tracked in your inventory.
  • Custom Conversion Ratios: Set a numeric conversion ratio between the two units. For example, you can define that you buy a “Case” of soda (Purchase Unit), but track it by the “Each” (Inventory Unit), specifying that 1 Case =24=24 Each.

Localization & Translation Support

We are expanding our language support within the venue-level inventory module to better serve international teams.
  • The “Inventory” tab will now reflect accurate Arabic translations based on user locale settings.
  •  The “Items” tab within Inventory will be standardized to “Ingredients” (and its Arabic equivalent) for clearer back-of-house terminology.
