POS Settings (HQ)

POS Settings are where the majority of the configuration options for the TRAY application are found. The POS Settings can either be accessed from TRAY HQ in the Device Settings or from the POS under Functions > Admin > Setup. This article will specifically cover the available configurations in TRAY HQ.

SECTION DESCRIPTION
Bad Internet Simulator The bad internet simulator is a legacy setting that would simulate a poor network connection. This simulator is no longer functional
Offline Support Offline Support is the capability for your system to toggle between online and offline mode
Auto Offline Automatic Offline determines whether or not your system can enter offline mode automatically in the case of a network or cloud event. Offline Support must be enabled for this to work. There are additional configurations for automatic offline mode that are not yet available in TRAY HQ.

SECTION DESCRIPTION
Screen Saver
  • Off: Screensaver will never turn on
  • On: Screensaver will turn on after 5 minutes
  • AutoLogout: Screensaver will turn on after 5 minutes and log the current user out
Card Reader Button Shows the card reader button underneath the "Continue" button on the login screen. This can also be toggled to "Show if no reader" meaning even if no MSR is assigned, this dialogue will still be visible
Swipe Chip Cards If you are processing payments through Magensa, this will allow or disallow you to swipe a card with a chip, otherwise you will be prompted for a chip. Not compatible with FreedomPay
Clocked-In Staff This determines wether or not checked in staff are visible on the POS login screen. This is useful for handheld devices or devices with cash drawers where the user needs to be checked out of a drawer, or assigned to a separate printer
Allergen Button The Allergen button will display a filter on the POS which allows you to filter out items that are configured with specific allergens. Your menu items must be configured with allergens in order for this filter to work

 

 

Kiosk

SECTION DESCRIPTION
Combo Item Prices Legacy Setting
Cart Special Instructions Ability to set order level special instructions on checkout
Menu Names Shows or hides the menu names on the kiosk
Show Add-On Items Shows add on items with the parent item or on checkout. On checkout shows the upsell prompt with the add-on items
Keep Tab Open Allows the customer to place an open tab on the kiosk (Legacy)
Waiver Buttons Determines which buttons show on the waiver kiosk, either Party Check-In or Walk-Ins
Login Screen If set to show, will prompt user to enter phone number for Tray loyalty before beginning the order
Kiosk Mode This will dictate whether the kiosk is in waiver mode, or standard
Customize Card Payment Button On kiosk checkout when selecting the tender type, this text will be whats displayed on the card payment option
Customize Other Tenders Button On kiosk checkout when selecting the tender type, this text will be whats displayed on the other payment option
Enable Timeout Prompt Allows you set the timeout for the cart timeout and set a custom message if enabled

 

 

Ordering

SECTION DESCRIPTION

Order Mode

  • Fire On Next: As each item is added to the cart, it will fire to the kitchen
  • Fire On Pay: Once the items are fired, they will go into the "Held" state and will not actually fire until the check has a payment applied
  • Fire On Total: The items fire upon hitting any of the sending options
Order Options
  • Hold Items: This activates the red HOLD button on the POS which allows a user to manually fire an order as held
  • Save Check: This activates the green "Save & New" button on the POS which allows a user to leave a check in its current state, so that they can apply a payment and close it out later, This also returns you to the Revenue Center selection screen so that you can start a new check
User Receipt Options

When using the customer facing payment flow, this setting toggles which receipt options are available. If just Print Receipt is selected, the receipts will automatically print, otherwise the customer will see the selected options

Item Customizations This setting toggles whether or not the Special Instructions button is visible on the products as you are adding them to the cart
Ask For Check Name N/A Not in use
Stay In Menu This setting will change when a user is adding items to the cart, if it will keep them in the current menu they are in, or return them back to all menus
Stay In Tab This setting will make it so that if the user opens some sort of sub menu, such as Functions, when they come back to the POS screen it will keep them in the current tab
Pin Location If your revenue center has multiple destinations available, this setting will allow a specific POS to "Pin" that destination so that whenever that revenue center is selected, it will automatically assign that destination. This destination can be changed manually

 

 

Payments

Card Payment Options
  • Authorize: This allows you to take an authorization payment first, and then capture the payment later. This is useful when the guest will be applying a tip to a receipt that will be entered by the server later
  • Store: Legacy
  • Charge: This is a direct charge. Payment and tip are captured at the same time
Cash Tender Confirmation When this is enabled, cash tenders will leave a confirmation screen up that allows the user to see the tendered amount and the change due. The user can then dismiss this screen when ready
Tip Buttons
  • No Tip: This will enable a button on the customer payment flow that allows the customer to choose "No Tip"
  • Cash Tips: This enables the user to then enter a tip record during the cash payment. This is usually not enabled.
Authorization Receipt This setting determines if the authorization receipt on a credit card payment will automatically print or if it needs to be printed manually

Tip Type

On the customer payment/tip flow, this setting toggles whether suggested gratuities are displayed as a dollar amount as a percentage
Who Will Enter Tips? This changes the payment flow from either the Staff flow, the Customer flow, or will prompt the user to select which flow is appropriate
Always Ask For Signature This setting determines whether or not the signature is required when using the customer payment flow

Menu Images

Toggles whether or not menu/product/modifier images are visible or not
Order Buttons

This toggles the available order firing options (Except for the Hold Item option)

Pressing and holding any of these buttons (Except for Fast Pay and Pay and Print) will allow the user to fire the order on Priority, which will move to the top of the expo screen and add a large [P] in front of the order

Permission Requirement: SendPriorityOrder

If the user has the AutoLogout permission assigned to their role, using any of these firing options would log them out upon firing any order

  • Fast Pay Buttons: Legacy Setting that enables the user to apply the payment at the time of firing the order
  • Print Receipt Button: This will fire the order, print the guest receipt, and log the user out
  • Print Order Button: This will fire the order and print a copy of the order chit
  • Send and Stay Button: This will fire all current products and allow the user to continue ringing items into the cart
  • Send and Close Button: This will fire the current order and log the user out
  • Pay Button: This will fire the order and take the user to the payment screen
  • Pay and Print Button: This will fire the order, print the guest receipt, and take the user to the payment screen
Modifier Style

This toggles how modifier groups are displayed when selecting products. List shows them all in one page, Tab separates them into tabs

Modifier Split Screen Legacy setting. DO NOT ENABLE
Guest Control Setting the Guest Control to show will minimize the Quantity buttons to the bottom of the screen, and instead display the "Guest Control" options. Requiring Guest Count/count minimums can be enabled by editing the Revenue Center
Reservations Legacy Setting
Modifiers Mode
  • Add-On Mode: Each time a modifier is pressed, it adds another quantity of that modifier (Legacy)
  • Checkbox Mode: Modifiers can be selected or deselected
Button Size Toggles the size of the buttons on the POS or the Kiosk. Small to Medium is recommended
Cart Position Changes the orientation of the UI on the POS or Kiosk flow to swap the cart from the left to the right
Print No Sale This toggle determines if a confirmation chit prints on any No Sale functions
Mode N/A No longer in use

 

 

Reader

SECTION DESCRIPTION
Reader Configuration

This setting toggles which Magnetic Strip Reader is set for your device. This is NOT for the credit card reader unless you have a Magtek eDynamo

  • None: No MSR
  • SecureMag: This setting is for any external USB SecureMag MSR, also for any Aures or Panasonic devices.
  • Magtek eDynamo: This setting is for the Magtek eDynamo, or the ELO MSR
  • Micros Reader: This setting enables the Micros 610. We are developing support for the 625/655.
  • Internal MSR: This will support the HP Engage ALL-IN-ONE
  • Moby 5500: This setting is only for the Ingenico Moby 5500. Do not toggle this setting if you are using any other FreedomPay device
Freedom Pay N/A. This setting is being removed

The Additional Settings is for any POS JSON configurations which have not yet been built into the POS Settings. This screen is visible on each section of the POS Settings tab. Many of these configurations contain sensitive information, or are features that are still in development
