Adding a Printer (Tray HQ)

In HQ select the Hardware section on the left-side menu, then select Printers/Drawers from the top menu, you can see each printer that is configured for that site, including its status, name, whether it is designated as a receipt printer, its IP address, and MAC address. USB printers will be marked as USB instead of TCP, and will have their IP and MAC blank. Order Printers (Receipt set to No), can also be set to buzz when a receipt prints and the buzz delay is configurable (requires additional hardware). Receipt Printers can have cash drawers assigned to them if installed at POS Terminals.

  1. Access your site on TRAY HQ
  2. Select Hardware from the side menu
  3. Select the Printers/Drawers option from the top menu.
    1. Select Add Printer..

      Fill the following details in the Add Printer screen.

      Field Description
      Name Name of the Printer.
      Failover Printer A list of other available printers that this device will failover to if the POS cannot communicate with it primary printer
      Receipt Printer?

      Toggle to determine Receipt/Order printer assignment

      Receipt Printer: prints a guest copy of the receipt

      Order Printer: prints the order that would be useful for a cook to create the order
      User Receipts? Prints customer copies of app orders (such as OLO) (Receipt printers only)

      Has Drawer

      Toggle for attached cash drawers. (Receipt printers only)
      Type Printer manufacturer
      Port Printer connection type
      IP Address

      IP field for TCP printers.

      MAC address

      		 MAC field for TCP printers.
      Print copies Specify number of receipt copies per push.
      Ring buzzer Toggles buzzer function, if attached. (Order printers only)
      Buzzer delay Set the delay between order prints and buzzer activation. (Order printers only)
      Test Printer Does not consider the device in the hardware count
      Hide Footer Removes the default footer with the app info from receipts. (Receipt printers only)
      Card Receipt Copy When selected, prints two receipts for Credit card orders. (Receipt printers only)
      Description Custom footers can be entered here (only if an existing JSON has not been applied to the site settings)
  4. Select Save.

The printer can now be assigned to a device
